My husband interviewed five better business approved contractors and was really impressed with Nick.Nick and his crew gutted our floors and ceilings and found extensive damage to our support beams. He contacted two engineers to help guide us to make the right decision raising our house up six feet to everchanging Fema requirements. He gave us the time we needed to make the right decision. We finally decided to sell our two family home and Nick released us from our contract to have our first floor renovated. Any other contractor would have penalized us for breaking the contract. "My husband and I hired Nick to renovate our entire Co-Op. Nick started the renovation, which among other things consisted of: redesigning the kitchen (widening the entryway, leveling the floor, and relocating the range, dishwasher, and sink) and bathroom, new hardwood floors, new plumbing and electrical work, and recessed lighting. Towards the end of the renovation, there was a fire in the unit upstairs and our apartment was COMPLETELY damaged by water. All the work was ruined and Nick had to start all over again. The whole ordeal was a traumatizing nightmare to say the least. But as overwhelming as our situation was, amongst all the chaos and new people we now had to work with, it was a relief to know that Nick would be the one fixing our home. Nick was absolutely amazing: he is honest, reliable, hardworking, always easy to get in contact with and easy to talk to. He gave us great suggestions and, even though we changed things on him a few times, worked with us through every little detail to make sure everything was as we had envisioned. "Nick of Cosmo's Home Improvement, was hired by my fiancé and I to remodel our two-family home in purchased in Howard Beach. We had just purchased this house and most of the interiors were from the 60s, so pretty much everything needed to be redone and half the house needed to be gutted. Our remodel included; both bathrooms, both kitchens and freshening up the rest of the house (3 bedrooms, 2 living room, 2 dining rooms, 2 entrance halls) with new (earth toned) paint and up-to-date moldings. He also did some brink pointing, installed all new windows (17 Total), and installed my new washer and dryer which required moving the existing plumbing. Both kitchens Nick installed are amazing! From the quality of the cabinets, to the well planned color combinations, to the little extras stuff, like hands free faucets, spin thing in the island, the lights through the glass paneled cabinets, and the lights under the cabinets. My favorite part of it is the granite kitchen countertops and the two islands in the middle of the kitchens and the glass tile positioning in the backsplash, not to mention, the special glass tile border designed by him separating the hall from the kitchen, and the awesome tiles on both the kitchen and hallway floors. Although he had to hurdle some obstacles with the extra long and thicker than normal tiles I chose for the bathrooms, he did a wonderful job on both bathrooms. The cracked mosaic glass borders definitely give the bathrooms character .... and we love the extra deep tubs. We found Cosmo's Home Improvement's work to be honestly priced, of good quality and done in a more than acceptable time frame.
